All About Amber/ Amber Color |
|
The color of amber varies significantly. It can range from black to white. It can also be different shades of yellow, brown, red, blue, and green. The turbidity of amber describes its clarity or cloudiness. If amber is white, it has many small air bubbles inside. The size and density of the air bubbles affects the shading.
Blue amber exists in the Dominican Republic as well as in the Baltic regions. Green amber can be found in the Dominican Republic. The blue or green colors are thought to be from the mineral deposits next to the amber permeating the amber. It may also be from volcanic dust settling on the amber when it was tree sap. Amber may appear black due to the suspended soil it contains inside.
